Correcting Addresses
If you have an excessive number of exceptions, it is best to review
the original ASCII file for errors. You should ensure all addresses
in the ASCII file are physical addresses and ensure all records are in
the correct ASCII file format. Recreate the ASCII file to address
these problems and reprocess the file. If you have a manageable
number of corrections, you may correct addresses individually within Allocator.
Steps to Update an Incorrect Address
Correcting an address can be performed from any report (except the Allocation
Summary and County Allocation reports). However, the process is typically
done from the Match Exceptions report.
- Double-click on any field that pertains to the address.
- The Geocode Address dialog appears. You may also access this dialog
box by going to Tools>Geocode Address from the toolbar
or, by right-clicking on the policy and selecting Geocode Address.
- If any of the addresses appearing in the Candidates list appears
to be the correct address, highlight that address and click the Allocate
button.
- If none of the addresses are correct, type the correct address
for the policy and press the Geocode button. The first address returned
should be the best matching address available. If you agree this is
a good match, click the Allocate button. If one of the other candidates
in the list appears to be a better match, highlight that address and
click the Allocate button. Please note that a record with a poor matching
address is already allocated to the city name. You do not need
to choose a bad address from the list just to force the address to
be allocated. (see step 5).
- If you know that the source address is correct, but a proper candidate
is not found, you may click on the Allocate to Source City button.
This will remove the policy from the Match Exceptions report. A match
code of -1 will be assigned to the policy. Note: This does not change
the Jurisdiction Assigned to because the policy is already assigned
to the source city.
