It’s a best practice to lock your returns once you complete them. Premium Pro Enterprise automatically recalculates anything that isn’t locked whenever there’s an update, and you don’t want that to happen to returns that are completed. It’s a nice visual indicator that a return is done, too!

It’s easy! All you have to do is right click on your desired return and click Lock Return. You can do the same for an entire jurisdiction by right clicking the jurisdiction and choosing Lock Jurisdiction. You can also unlock a locked return or jurisdiction using the same method!
Once locked, the return icon displays a yellow padlock in the active tree.

When a return is locked, you can’t change any information in the input fields, but you can add stamps and sticky notes if you have the appropriate permissions. Changes to any of the input schedules will also not flow to a locked return. Make a habit of locking returns when you file them—you’ll thank yourself later.
